Matheson Island Marketing Co-op

The Matheson Island Marketing Co-op was founded in 1962 by Russell Whiteway, Johnny Bennett and Elizabeth Robinson. It started up in the pulping industry. After a couple of years, they changed to commercial fishing. The Co-op currently operates two shed locations:

Island View (serves approximately 75 fishers)
Pine Dock (serves approximately 35 fishers)

Commercial fishing is the number one service of income in our communities, which makes the Matheson Island Marketing Co-op a key business on Matheson Island.
